Are you a foreigner, but you’re staying in Poland and would like to legally place bets with a bookmaker? Poland has strictly regulated matters concerning the principles on which online gambling is possible. Legal sports betting in Poland – basic rules
Bookmakers’ bets in Poland can be placed legally online or at land-based betting shops, but only with bookmakers who have the appropriate licence. The legal regulations governing the Polish betting market are found in the so-called ’Gambling Act’, which was radically amended at the end of 2016.
For players, the most important thing is that placing bets in Poland is only allowed for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. Online bookmakers’ bets can only be placed after a player’s account has been registered, although initially, you can usually open a temporary account, which only requires providing basic information. On the other hand, betting with illegal bookmakers is forbidden in Poland and is punishable by high financial penalties.
A citizen of another country can, of course, place legal bets with a bookmaker in Poland, provided they comply with the legal regulations in force here, including opening an individual player’s account. Legal bookmakers for foreigners, however, are readily available in Poland, and there are quite a few such companies.

All legal bookmakers in Poland accept Polish złoty. None of the bookmakers, however, allow betting in foreign currencies such as the euro, US dollar, British pound, Ukrainian hryvnia, Russian rouble, or UAE dirham. The only exception is LV BET, which allows deposits in as many as 13 popular cryptocurrencies (including Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Solana), but the deposited funds are automatically converted into real money, which is the Polish złoty. Therefore, both betting and withdrawals are conducted in the Polish currency.
What types of bets can you place online with Polish bookmakers? All Polish legal bookmakers offer: pre-match bets (sports, e-sports and non-sports), live bets, virtual sports bets, and live simulated card game bets. The exceptions are AdmiralBet, which doesn’t yet offer virtual sports betting, and Traf, which only accepts bets on horse races.
